Taking India’s largest used-car business from a handful of listings to a fully digital, nationwide buying experience.
Where things stood
True Value, Suzuki Motor’s used-car division, had scale most competitors could only dream of — hundreds of thousands of cars in stock and thousands of dealerships across India. What it didn’t have was digital infrastructure to match. The website was outdated and listed only a few hundred cars, and in an unorganized market built on haggling, customers had no easy way to trust a price before walking into a showroom.
The approach
- Built an iPad app to digitize the car evaluation process, running a 300+ point inspection checklist across 3,000+ dealerships nationwide.
- Built a second iPad app for dealerships to log refurbishment details and calculate post-refurbishment valuation.
- Redesigned the True Value website with lead-generation flows wired directly into the CRM.
- Built a CRM system to manage the entire lead-to-sale pipeline, with escalation rules and reporting.
- Shipped internal apps so individual dealerships could manage their own data with Maruti Suzuki centrally.
What it moved
The inspection checklist and digital pricing engine we introduced directly addressed the market’s biggest trust problem — haggling over condition and price. That foundation, laid in 2016–17, became the infrastructure True Value scaled on in the years since.
